What does negotiating my payments mean?
We invite borrowers who are experiencing financial hardship to submit a request through "Negotiate My Payments" to potentially reduce their balance. If your request is accepted, the amount you select will be the new amount owed on your account.
How do I request to Negotiate My Payments?

Answer a few questions about your financial situation. This information helps us advocate on your behalf.

Review and submit your request.

The creditor will review your request and accept, reject, or counter the offer.

If accepted, your first payment will be due within 30 days. If not completed, your offer will be removed.
Will I be charged a fee if I request a settlement?
No additional fees will be applied to your account if you request a settlement.
What happens after I request a settlement?
Once you request a settlement, the creditor who holds your debt will review the details of your request. If your request is approved, January will send you an email with next steps. From there, you have 30 days to make a payment (either a one-time payment or a payment plan) before your settlement offer expires.
